Re: Beautiful Libraries!
The first one (2011) appeals to me, 2 floors and a circle staircase, to die for!
I'm not at all keen on the one with all white walls, floors etc, bit too stark for my liking.
Don't like cubes either.
I always wanted a ladder to roll round the shelves too.
Can I get one complete with books? Or the money to fill the shelves at least?

ooh....I think I'm in love with a few of them from page 1. I'd never leave the room. The kids would have to fend for themselves for meals.

Golly!
Thanks, Karoline, for this tour of libraries! Well, here's my thing: No library is worth much if you can't comfortably sit within it to read any of its books; and to do this, if you're me, what's absolutely necessary is a comfy chair — although I've made a single exception when it comes to my favorites:
1034 (Modest Home Libraries) - Comfy chairs!
2004 (Larger Home Libraries) - A comfy chair!
2006 (Larger Home Libraries) - A comfy chair!
2050 (Larger Home Libraries) - Fabulous design! [Comfy chair being delivered tomorrow.]
Sure, all the libraries shown on that Web site are wonderful and I'd love to spend hours in most of them. However, from perusing the photographs, it's obvious there's no accounting for taste. "Gaudy" seems to be the key word all too often; and whilst I tend to like dark Victorian libraries, it's those very ones which have the stiffest and straightest chairs. Yuk!
Then there's the Cotton Candy School of Interior Design, wherein the password is "Frilly" and everything's blindingly white (or nearly so). It's no fun to read if you have to wear sunglasses indoors whilst doing so. Actually, I quite like that "Alexandria Library" find by those Polish archaeologists! It's not very comfy-looking, there aren't any books or scrolls and there's no protection against the elements (nor are there any reading lamps) but it's really nifty regardless.

Re: Beautiful Libraries!
Well I like the simple 2012 library... but would have to have some comfy chairs and a nice soft couch in there!!! I can't do stairs but could do the ladder thing if needed. Would just put all Waynes stuff on the top shelves. LOL
Anyhow we really do need more space for books as we have about 575 of them! About half of those are paperbacks. That of course is not counting the photo albums and etc that have to be on shelves also!
