Howdy!
Karoline, that "pod" is the fruit of the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum). It's pod-like in appearance, so I suppose it could be thought of as a pod. I'm sure the variety which manifests a human-looking eye is quite rare, however.
My new signature-block graphic is the tiny version of a wallpaper showing Princess Menas of Amara gazing upon the ruins of what was once her family's mighty kingdom. Princess Menas (a.k.a. "Menace" a.k.a. "Menasu") is a character in the Queen's Blade visual combat books, first published in 2005 by HobbyJAPAN CO. and produced as a 12-episode anime series for television by ARMS Corporation in 2009.
She lived in ancient times, her favorite pastimes being participation in athletic contests and fitness programs. Her chief female attendant, whom she trusted completely, belonged to a secret revolutionary group seeking the overthrow of the kingdom. Menas, being rather naive due to her sheltered upbringing, easily fell victim to that plot and was murdered by the aforementioned attendant.
However, Menas is resurrected by a "swamp witch" (those streaming ribbons are mummy wrappings) in all her youthful beauty and vigor. She then sets out to rebuild her family's former kingdom of Amara. For reasons best understood by those who comprehend Japanese thought processes, Princess Menas is deemed an antagonist by ARMS Corporation and HobbyJAPAN Co.; and she is murdered once again, this time by some queen, in the sixth episode of the anime series.
