Politically-incorrect music
Here's an example of what today would be deemed a politically-incorrect song. It was acceptable in its day, which may be why we had a 78 revolutions-per-minute recording of it in our home when I was a little kid. Anyway, it's Arthur Godfrey's "Too Fat Polka" (New York: Columbia Records, 1947). Click here to learn more about Arthur Godfrey.

Yeah....
I've another song of his which is even worse, Karoline, but I'll spare you that dose of disgust. (It's titled "Heap Big Smoke But No Fire" and is unbearably corny in addition to being offensive.) Now, it's not that I actually like those songs; but a few days ago they came to mind when I was reflecting upon my childhood, so I went looking for them on the Web.
Vicki, it's kind of you to say you found the song amusing; but it's perfectly all right to castigate both the song and the singer. Mind, I thought it was funny - back when I was a kid; but today, in the U.S., I wouldn't dare praise it lest my retirement pension be rescinded.
